About Jake Miller

A Career Built in the Trenches of Medical Sales

25 years. Four companies. Millions in closed deals. And a whole lot of lessons learned the hard way — so you don't have to.

Jake Miller — founder of The Sales Mentor Project

Jake Miller didn't stumble into sales. He built a career in some of the most demanding, relationship-driven industries in the world — medical devices, advanced wound care, surgical products, capital equipment, and rapid diagnostics.

Over 25 years, he's called on C-suite executives, emergency medicine physicians, pathologists, OR directors, and hospital lab administrators. He's navigated long sales cycles, complex hospital systems, and the kind of high-stakes deals that test whether you're truly built for this work.

He's also earned President's Club, been promoted to Field Sales Trainer, and risen to Health Systems Executive — working with eight top health systems across the Central and Mountain regions. The results speak for themselves. But what Jake is most proud of is the people he's helped along the way.

Why The Sales Mentor Project

After 25 years in the field, Jake has seen what separates the reps who make it from the ones who wash out. It's rarely talent. It's almost always fundamentals — territory planning, relationship-building, handling objections, and the mental toughness to keep going when the pipeline runs dry.

The Sales Mentor Project exists because those fundamentals aren't taught in onboarding. They're learned through years of trial and error — or through someone who's already been there.

Jake created this to be that someone for the next generation of outside sales professionals. No fluff. No theory. Just real-world wisdom from someone who's lived it.

Beyond the Field

Jake lives in Kansas City, MO with his wife Emily of 23 years and their two sons, Jax (20) and Sam (17). He played four years of football at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas — a nationally recognized program that taught him the same lessons he now passes on to his clients: discipline, resilience, and how to perform when it counts.

Outside of coaching, you'll find him on the golf course, at a CrossFit box, or behind a smoker working on his BBQ game. He's also coached youth wrestling — because mentorship, for Jake, has never been just about sales.
